Hummingbird Support Services

Over the years Hummingbirds have come to represent hope, prosperity, and resilience. To some, hummingbirds symbolize that challenging times are over and better times are coming. At Hummingbird Support Services, we support families through the challenging times with the goal of supporting children in reaching their optimal engagement and participation in daily activities. We focus on providing Occupational Therapy support in a functional, fun, and family centered way.

Areas of Support

Self-Care Skills

Self-care skills are the everyday tasks that we need to complete in a day such as dressing, eating, and toileting.

Self Regulation

Self regulation is the best state of alertness of both our body and emotions for a specific situation. It is the ability to understand and manage our behaviour and reactions.

Sensory Processing

Sensory processing is the ability to take in information through our senses; organize, interpret, and then respond to that information accordingly. This includes processing and reacting to visual, auditory, tactile, proprioceptive, vestibular, gustatory, olfactory, and interoception information.

Emotional Regulation

Emotional regulation is the ability to adjust our emotions in response to various situations. These can be situations that are boring, exciting, stressful, frustrating, and everything in between.

Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills are the ability to use our hands in coordinated and precise movements to engage in activities.

Executive Functioning

Executive functions are the skills needed to support our brain’s ability to plan ahead, meet goals, display self-control, follow multiple-step directions, and stay focused.
